.
I passed 9,000 hits last week, and published my 250th post. Both milestones I meant to mention as they happened, but oh, well. The life of a Pastor/D Min student/Husband/Father/Band Club President, I guess.
In other news, I have been diagnosed with gout. Or as it is called here in South Carolina, The Gout. Not sure about that definite article there. I don't think that I have the only gout that there is.
It reminds me of Kentucky, where folks with diabetes had The Sugar. "Did you hear about Brother Steve? He has THE SUGAR." (done, done, DONNNNNE!) "Nope. But I did hear that Preacher Leigh has THE GOUT."
Bless his heart! He has the everything.
Anyway. No biggie. Just the most excruciating pain I have ever had. Ha. I had to get Luke to drive me to the Urgent Care Saturday. My right knee would not bend. So I couldn't even use my imaginary brake on the passenger side.
So, it's Spring Time here in South Carolina. We are surrounded by pine trees. If you're a southerner you know what that means. If you're a Yankee (or from the left coast), you know how people up y'alls way refer to snow? Like inches (or feet if you're far enough north.) Well that's how we refer to pollen.
"We got 3" today."
"That's nothing. I remember the great pollizard of sevemty-tooo. Why, we musta got a foot if we got an inch."
So I said all of that to say this, my sinuses have been on overdrive the last week or so. I hacked and coughed all through my Sunday morning.
The Gout!
The Sugar!
The Pollen!
I'm telling you folks, I'm much too young to feel this old!

For My Fellow Theologs
.
I came across this today, and thought it was very funny.
Here is my take, only altered slightly!
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump.
I said, “Don’t do it!"
He said, “Nobody loves me.”
I said, “God loves you. Do you believe in God?”
He said, “Yes.”
I said, “Are you a Christian or a Jew?"
He said, “A Christian.”
I said, “Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?”
He said, “Protestant.”
I said, “Me, too! What denomination?”
He said, “Baptist.”
I said, “Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?”
He said, “Southern Baptist.”
I said, “Me, too! Southern SBC or Southern CBF?”
He said, “Southern SBC.”
I said, “Me, too! Southern SBC BF&M 1969, or Southern SBC BF&M 2001?”
He said, “Southern SBC BF&M 2001.”
I said, “Me, too! Southern SBC BF&M 2001, Landmark Theology, or Southern SBC BF&M 2001, Reformed Theology?”
He said, “Southern SBC BF&M 2001, Landmark Theology."
I said, “Die, heretic!” And I pushed him over.

Mr. Obama Goes To War
.
Some bullet points of things that puzzle me and tick-me-off about the Libyan War.
1) Why is Kaddafi still a colonel? Shouldn’t he be High and Exalted Potentate by now? Or at least General Kaddafi? Who’s on the promotion board in Tripoli?
2) So VP Biden said, back in ’07 while running for the Presidency, that he would impeach the POTUS if “he” ever took us to war without authorization from the congress. Hmmm. Now that it’s BHO in the Oval Office and not GWB, does that still apply Joe?
3) Oh wait? Mr. President! DOES THAT still apply?
“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation. As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.” ~ Senator Barak Obama, December 20, 2007
4) Why are we stopping, once again, Muslim on Muslim violence? Yes, I do feel sorry for the rebels. But I feel sorrier for the elderly couple in East LA who can’t go to the drug store after dark for fear of gang violence. I feel sorrier for the rancher in South Texas who has illegal immigrants trudging through his pastures and farm land. And I am outraged that my wife is working full-time and receiving a part time salary because of educational budgetary restrictions, and we are spending an estimated $100-300 million this week bombing Libya. That would hire a lot of teachers! For a lot of years! (And don’t even get me started on the cost of our continued presence in Iraq!) Let’s prioritize our spending, Mr. President.
5) An article in Der Spegiel and The Daily Mail said that Germany was pulling an AWAC and two frigates from the NATO Alliance. When in Hades did Germany get an Air Force and a Navy? Did the Twentieth Century teach us nothing!? The next thing you know, we’ll let Japan have a Defense Force. What’s that? ….. Oh. Well then. Moving on.
6) And why is our fearless leader on yet another vacation? Didn’t the press vilify GW for going to Texas and raking leafs and burning brush? BHO takes his kids on a tour of Rio and he’s applauded for building fences with South America. Here’s something to cheer about…When he builds a fence around South America—as in from Florida to California!

All Animals Are Equal, But Some Are More Equal Than Others
.
So according to the Obama Administration, bullying is not acceptable in our public school systems. Amen. Bully for you, Mr. President! errrr...Yeah, for. you. Mr. President.?.
Anyway, so President Obama has the DoJ on the hunt to root out bullying from our schools. According to their website
The Civil Rights Division and the entire Justice Department are committed to ending bullying and harassment in schools, and the video highlights the Department’s authority to enforce federal laws that protect students from discrimination and harassment at school because of their race, national origin, disability, religion, and sex, including harassment based on nonconformity with gender stereotypes.
It goes onto say,
The enforcement of the Equal Protection Clause, Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 in school districts is a top priority of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. Additional information is available at the Civil Rights Division’s Educational Opportunities Section website at www.justice.gov/crt/edo/.
and
As stated in the website below, we are statutorily authorized to initiate suits under Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Educational Opportunities Act of 1974, and under Title III of the American with Disabilities Act. More information on the Civil Rights Act, Equal Educational Opportunities Act, and the ADA can be found here: http://www.justice.gov/crt/edo/faq.php#3
In other words, you are only protected from bullying in the eyes of the DoJ if you are of color, female, handicapped, or homosexual. If you're like me; fat, white, male, and conservative, you're out of luck.
It would seem that the Justice Department is going by George Orwell’s famous Animal Farm ending: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

Incredible Pictures From Japan
What to see something incredible?
Look at this wave pouring into Miyako City on Friday.
or this one of cars that were waiting to be exported. They were burned and then washed together by the tsunami.
But this one is the MOST amazing to me. This is a line of people waiting to get water. You wouldn't see that level of patience in many places. Good for them.

A Letter From A Missionary in Japan
My blogging buddy Dan over at Navy Christian shared this. Please go through the link and check this out. Pray God would use this devastating tragedy to open Japan up to the Gospel, and that a multitude would come to faith in Christ.

The Beginning Of Birth Pains
.
A Tsunami Hits Japan, March 11, 2011Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Matthew 24:7-8
Hmm. Libya, Egypt, Japan...all adds up. I'm sure I'll be writing more about this soon. I've been slack and only writing headlines and politics here lately. With the exception of Egypt.
What did Jesus mean by birth pains? After three kids, I kinda know. (No comments, ladies! I was just a participant, not really involved in the pain. I know! I know!)
But any mother can tell you quickly what Jesus meant. Labor pain does two things. It increases in intensity and in frequency. The closer to the birth, the more intense the labor pain and the more frequent the labor pain.
What Jesus is telling us is that the closer we get to the "end of the age" the more frequent wars, famines, and earthquakes will be, and the more intense they will be.
Did you hear about the swarm of 800 quakes in Arkansas last week?!
8.9 in Japan today?
6.3 in New Zealand last month
7.0 in Haiti in 2010?
8.8 in Chile in 2010?
8.1 in Somoa Islands '09
7.9 in China in '08
9.4 in Sumatra in '04?
More earthquakes.
More intense earthquakes.
According to the USGS, in the decade of the 1990's there was five (5) earthquakes above an 8 magnitude. Since 2000, there have been 13, and two of those were above a 9!
I'm just saying!
A 23' high wall of water slams into Japan's coast. March 11, 2011

Audacity And Hope; But No Change Back
.
As if things couldn't get worse for BHO, a new survey showing gas prices during his first 26 months in office is out. Any takers?????
No? Well, surprisingly...it's up. I know. I know. I wouldn't have thought that a Dem President of the people with an eye toward the Middle Class would ever let such things happen, but they are up a whopping 67%!?!?!?!
Come on, man!
You know, when he took office in January 2009, gas was just under $2 a gallon. It's $3.42/gallon here today. A $20 bill? You can have the Audacity To Hope, but you still won't get any Change back!
I know that there is trouble in the Mid East. But that is only part of this administration's failures on gas price stabilization.
Not only does Barak WANT $4/gallon gas, but he also hired a Secretary of the Interior that infamously said he didn't mind if gas hit $10 a gallon. What the heck is wrong with these people!?
AND it was BHO who scolded us, oh so professorially I might add, that, "We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.”
Barak, baby, let me let you in on a little secret...

Oh, Yes He Did!
.
Today's post is brought to you by the number $223,000,000,000.00.
That was our national deficit for the month of February. That was more than the entire year of 2007!
Still miss President Bush? You bet.
So when BHO said, "Yes We Can!" What he really meant was "YES! WE CAN...spend like a drunken sailor on a three day liberty." (Except I never spent more than a few hundred on a three day liberty.)

So I've just passed my 8,000th visitor.
Thanks everybody, and if you keep reading, I'll keep writing!
Again, I'll point your attention to the revolving world below left-hand side. If you look, it'll show you where you are. Pretty darn cool, huh!?

Lincoln Was A Racist
.
So apparently, now Lincoln was a racist. As we get ready to celebrate our greatest president's 150 anniversary (of his inauguration) people want to look back with revisionist historical eyes and criticize.
But I know the truth.
The liberals just now figured out he was a Republican. Can you imagine that? A Republican ended slavery, won the civil war, instituted civil rights, and was in the process of reuniting the nation when he was assassinated...
wait for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAIT....FOR...IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Assassinated by a Democrat!
Go figure.

Obama Wants Higher Gas Prices
.
Well, we are well on our way to $4/gallon gas prices again. We were living in Atlanta when they hit around $4.80 back in '07. Talk about "end times" scenarios. People believed that was Armageddon! The wailing and gnashing of teeth was amazing. (And that was just from me!) We were spending about $150/week on gas that summer. It wouldn't be anyway near that bad now, but I did put $120 just in the van THIS WEEK! Granted that included a trip to Charleston to see Patty's DR, but still!
It is interesting because, apparently, our fearless leader up in the House of White wants $4/gallon gas! Link
So............brace yourselves. It's coming.
Oh, and by-the-way, oil was trading at $147 a barrel in '07 when gas hit $4. At the current rate, it will make $4/gallon at much less. Link

Lupus
.
Well, we finally got a diagnosis, a year later. I told Patty today that it has been one year. I remember because this started when we were at WinterJam last year and we began the adoption process. That remains on hold still. Anyway, our Doctor told us today that with 99% certainty she had Lupus.
Here is her take on things.
So we begin this adventure. Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of PreacherLeigh...
