The Beginning Of Birth Pains

.
                                                                                                                                      A Tsunami Hits Japan, March 11, 2011

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Matthew 24:7-8

Hmm. Libya, Egypt, Japan...all adds up. I'm sure I'll be writing more about this soon. I've been slack and only writing headlines and politics here lately. With the exception of Egypt.

What did Jesus mean by birth pains? After three kids, I kinda know. (No comments, ladies! I was just a participant, not really involved in the pain. I know! I know!)

But any mother can tell you quickly what Jesus meant. Labor pain does two things. It increases in intensity and in frequency. The closer to the birth, the more intense the labor pain and the more frequent the labor pain.

What Jesus is telling us is that the closer we get to the "end of the age" the more frequent wars, famines, and earthquakes will be, and the more intense they will be.

Did you hear about the swarm of 800 quakes in Arkansas last week?!
8.9 in Japan today?
6.3 in New Zealand last month
7.0 in Haiti  in 2010?
8.8 in Chile in 2010?
8.1 in Somoa Islands '09
7.9 in China in '08
9.4 in Sumatra in '04?

More earthquakes.
More intense earthquakes.

According to the USGS, in the decade of the 1990's there was five (5) earthquakes above an 8 magnitude. Since 2000, there have been 13, and two of those were above a 9!

I'm just saying!
